Equine Reiki is beneficial to all horses and ponies no matter what size or breed, they can all benefit from Equine Reiki Healing.
Horses like all animals are very receptive creatures and can feel the Reiki energy flowing through them. They understand that this energy will help them and so are very accepting of it taking as much as their body needs at that time, moving away once they sense they have received enough.
Reiki is a channelling of positive energy passing from a practitioner's hands into the horse moving directly to where it is most needed.
Reiki is a non invasive form of healing and therefore no pressure is used. The hands of the practitioner may be gently laid on to the horses body or may be held a few inches above in the Aura.
Reiki is a powerful and natural way of kick starting your horses own body into self healing.

Equine Reiki helps to accelerate the horses own healing system. You may see that wounds may be healed more quickly, recovery from an operation is more rapid as well as recovery from muscle strains, back pain and disease.
Reiki also works on the emotional side of the horse. It can help in easing the mind of a troubled horse helping in cases of stress, anxiety, excitability or depression. It can also help in the performance of a horse that is suffering from past trauma and events which he may still be trying to deal with. Reiki gives the horses immune system a vital boost and all horses including accident prone ones are able to become more balanced within themselves.

Equine Reiki Healing is not a substitute for veterinary advice or care.
Reiki for you horse or pony is not going to reverse severe degeneration or damage to organs or tissue - all living things have a time span for the physical life to end.
Nor should equine healing be used with the sole intent to win more cups or medals for you and your horse. Improvements to the feeling of general wellbeing may well result in increased success but it should not be the primary reason for healing.

I will visit your horse in his own environment so that it reduces any stress which may be brought on from travel. I ask that the owner be present to complete a questionaire, also a general background of the horse will be discussed.
*If your horse is under the supervision of a Vet, his permission must be given before the Reiki Session*.
The owner is asked to be present during the session again to help make it as stress free as possible for the horse. The environment must be free from distraction during the session. Once the horse is settled I will start the treatment by scanning the horses energy points. The Reiki energy will then be directed to the horse and will travel to where it is most needed by the animal at that particular point in time. If the horses first reaction is to move away from the energy this is fine and is quite normal as animals are very sensitive to the change in energy but adapt to the feeling of the flow very quickly.
It is very normal for some horses to fall asleep during a Reiki Healing session as it is a very peaceful and calming energy.
Equine Reiki works alongside prescribed medication as a complimentary therapy. It IS NOT meant to be used as a substitute for Veterinarian Care. If you feel your horse has something seriously wrong, ALWAYS consult your vet immediately.

How may my horse react to an equine reiki treatment?
Humans can cry and horses cannot, yet they feel the same emotions and the horse seems so grateful for the release of turbulent energy that healing offers. Horses are more sensitive to energies and healing than many human beings they are more in tune with natural forces.
Horses love healing and it is such an easy thing to offer for the benefit of the horse's inner peace such a small part of our time, yet such a huge dramatic and welcome experience for them.
Horse are given the reiki healing standing up and sometimes can become light headed if the energy is strong. Horses can take several minutes to recover from this deeply relaxed state and the changes can carry on taking place for quite a while after the actual healing session has finished. In some horses, after the release of deep rooted trauma, this period can last several days. This is why it is requested that horses should be allowed to relax on the day that they have been given the healing.

After your horse or pony has received the Equine Reiki Healing Treatment, your horse or pony will need to relax.
I would suggest that you stay with your horse/pony for approximately one hour after the session has ended and you should under no circumstances ride him as he will be sleepy.
Make sure that there is sufficient water for your horse after the session as your horses body will start to detox itself and the process will be helped by him drinking more than usual. You may also notice more passing of stools and wind during this process. This is just the body getting rid of excess waste and is quite normal.

The Veterinary Surgery Act of 1966 amended 1996, prohibits anyone other than a qualified veterinary surgeon from treating animals, including diagnosis of ailments and giving advice on such diagnosis. However the healing of animals by "contact healing" by the laying on of hands or "distant healing" is legal.
However the Protection of Animals Act 1911, requires that if an animal clearly needs treatment from a veterinary surgeon the owner must obtain this.
Therefore, before treating animals it is advisable to seek assurance from the owner that the animal has been examined by a vet.
To give emergency first aid to animals for the purpose of saving life or relieving pain is permissible under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 Schedule 3.
