Animals, like humans thrive on touch and they respond to Animal Reiki in the same way that a human being does. Sick or distressed animals respond very positively to Reiki Healing and generally relax very quickly. Since animals are more instinctive than we are, they are more able to judge how much Reiki they need and how often they need it. All animals can be treated with Animal Reiki Healing as a tonic or to ease suffering.
Some animals may have a problem sitting still at first as they will find Reiki Energy an unusual experience however, once they have received it a few times they will become far more relaxed. Your dog, cat or other pet will let you know when they have received sufficient Animal Reiki Energy by either moving away, becoming distracted or they may begin to preen or wash themselves.
An Animal Reiki Healing session can positively effect the relationship to the animal concerned. True friendships can develop as a result of Reiki treatments. Animals lose their natural shyness and become very trusting.

An Animal Reiki Healing Treatment can be given to your pet in two ways.
Firstly by hands on healing where I will visit the animal in it's own environment so that it feels safer and more secure within its own surroundings.
Secondly by distant healing. This can be done for any animal and is very useful for an energetic pet where the healing can be programmed to be received every alternate hour during the night while it sleeps and the results can be seen the next day or for nocturnal animals.
On visiting your pet at home, I will need the owner to complete an animal health form and we will discuss the animals background, behaviour and any illness or medication the animal has been prescribed by a veterinary surgeon. At the start of the session the healing energy will be directed to the animal and will find it's own way to the areas of the body, mind or spirit that are in need of it at that particular point in time.
A distant healing session will require you to send a photograph of the animal along with an approximate date of birth and town where it is located. I will arrange a time when I will send the healing to the animal. Depending of the circumstances, Reiki can be programmed to be received at specific times during the day or night or week. Again this will be discussed on completion of the animal health form.
I cannot give an exact time of how long the session will last as this will depend solely on the animal involved. Each animal will differ in how much energy they need and they will be the ones that decide how long the Reiki session will last.

After an Animal Reiki Healing treatment whether it be in person or from a distance your pets body will go through a cleansing process. It is very important that the animal has access to plenty of fresh water as this is used to help the detoxification. The animals toilet routine may also become more frequent during this time.
It is very likely that your pet will feel very sleepy for a few hours after the treatment, do not be alarmed this is perfectly normal as Reiki Energy is very gentle and very soothing.

Animal Reiki is a complimentary therapy and is in no way meant as an alternative to professional Veterinary Care. If you feel your animal has a problem, please consult your vet immediately.
Reiki works well alongside prescribed medication and can help accelerate the healing process. If your animal is on medication please DO NOT STOP this medication unless it is by instruction of your vet.
*****Always advise your vet about any complimentary therapies you are considering for your pets*****

The Veterinary Surgery Act of 1966 amended 1996, prohibits anyone other than a qualified veterinary surgeon from treating animals, including diagnosis of ailments and giving advice on such diagnosis. However the healing of animals by "contact healing" by the laying on of hands or "distant healing" is legal.
However the Protection of Animals Act 1911, requires that if an animal clearly needs treatment from a veterinary surgeon the owner must obtain this.
Therefore, before treating animals it is advisable to seek assurance from the owner that the animal has been examined by a vet.
To give emergency first aid to animals for the purpose of saving life or relieving pain is permissible under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 Schedule 3.
